As part of Knowledge Access and Resources Management Services (KARMS), the Knowledge Access department comprises three units, Metadata Strategy, Non-Latin Scripts Metadata, and Specialized Metadata, responsible for bibliographic description, authority data, metadata crosswalks and management for all types of resources (e.g., physical and digital), across various subjects, disciplines, and languages.

Knowledge Access aims to support teaching, learning, and research by providing access to knowledge through the creation and management of standardized and inclusive metadata for scholarly resources at NYU and its consortium institutions, in alignment with international metadata standards for global interoperability.
