The Manhattan Research Library Initiative (MaRLI) enables NYU and Columbia doctoral students, full-time faculty and librarians, and approved New York Public Library cardholders to borrow materials from all three institutions.

NYU Scholars

MaRLI is open to all PhD students and full-time faculty at NYU. Register for MaRLI as an NYU scholar. For access to the libraries at Columbia after registering for MaRLI, information can be found on Columbia’s Approved Visitors and Partnerships page.

NYPL Scholars

In order to access the libraries at Columbia or NYU, MaRLI participants should make their initial registration at one of the NYPL Research Libraries. Information can be found on NYPL’s Research Borrowing Programs Page, or apply by reaching out to marli@nypl.org. Once approved by NYPL, MaRLI members can register for access to Bobst Library.

Columbia Scholars

In order to access the libraries at NYU, Columbia MaRLI participants should make their initial registration with Columbia. More information can be found on Columbia’s Access to Other Libraries Page. Once approved, MaRLI members can register for access to Bobst Library.
