Padilla, Margo
Digital Preservation Librarian
The Digital Preservation unit is part of the Barbara Goldsmith Preservation & Conservation Department. We collaborate with our colleagues across the entire Division of Libraries to develop and implement policies and processes that aim to ensure the long-term preservation and usability of NYU’s digital collections, including born-digital and digitized collections.
We write and maintain digital preservation documentation such as policy documents, workflow practices, and technical specifications.
We regularly assess our digital preservation practices, including our choice of what we preserve, how we preserve it, and under what circumstances we make accessible digital materials. This also includes our choice of standards, formats, metadata, and maintenance procedures.
We collaborate with our colleagues to evaluate our digital repository structure and standards, and ensure we are effectively and responsibly meeting our digital preservation storage objectives.
We develop informational resources for users and partners across and beyond the Division of Libraries.
