Head, Arts, Performance, and Humanistic Inquiry & Librarian for Fine Arts
Our team works to connect members of the NYU community who are engaged in the arts, performance, and the humanities with resources and research strategies that help them in their scholarly and creative pursuits. We build research collections in a wide variety of formats; assist library users through teaching, consultation, and outreach; and adopt collaborative approaches that help NYU scholars and artists build new intellectual and creative connections.
Need help with a research question? Email any of us individually based on your subject. You may also request a virtual or in-person appointment by email to discuss your specific assignment, research topic, or question. If you aren’t sure whom to email, you can send your request to the Arts, Performance and Humanistic Inquiry (APHI) Department at (APHI@nyu.edu)[mailto:APHI@nyu.edu].
We offer library instruction for undergraduate and graduate classes that focus on:
- Using the library catalog to locate books and electronic resources
- Refining a research question and using keywords
- Developing subject-specific research strategies
- Evaluating scholarly and non-scholarly resources
- A class assignment involving research
- Developing research-driven creative work
- Specific research skills as needed
If you are an instructor who is interested in having us offer an instruction session for your class, please contact us individually according to your course and our subject specialties.
We select books, e-books, journals, databases, and other materials in accordance with the library’s (collection development policy)[https://library.nyu.edu/departments/collection-development/] which reflects the needs of the University’s teaching and research programs. If you would like to suggest a purchase for the Bobst Library Main Collection, email us at APHI@nyu.edu or for a specific subject area, email any of us individually.
