Annual and Signature Programs

NYU Welcome Events

Each fall and spring, NYU Libraries welcomes new and returning students with tours, workshops, and events designed to help you get started. These events create opportunities to learn how to access physical and digital collections, navigate library spaces, use technology tools and resources, and connect with subject specialists and technical experts.

Library Workshops

Led by library faculty and staff, workshops help students develop research skills and make the most of library services and spaces. Topics include citation management, literature reviews, research strategies, bibliography management, and other essential research methods.

Our offerings include the Foundations at NYU Libraries Workshop Series, led by reference librarians and designed to help students build research skills and learn how to navigate library resources and collections.

Data Services Classes

Data Services classes focus on supported software, data collections, research data management, and other key services for researchers. Topics include quantitative and qualitative analysis, survey tools, geographic information systems (GIS), and best practices for managing data and code to support long-term sustainability of research materials.

Hack Dibner

Hack Dibner is Dibner Library’s annual semester-long proof-of-concept competition to improve user experience in the library. Students compete as teams, complete workshops to earn bonus points, and work with librarian mentors to craft the best proposal to improve library experience at Dibner or NYU Libraries more broadly.

Creativity and Wellbeing Events

NYU Libraries offers events designed to help students recharge, reflect, and connect with others. Popular programs include journal and zine making, restorative yoga, Creativity Breaks, Meditations on Earth, and Mindfulness Moments. These events create opportunities for creativity, community, and wellbeing throughout the semester.

Special Collections Events

Special Collections hosts exhibitions, lectures, seminars, and talks throughout the year that highlight unique materials from the archives and special collections. These events bring students, faculty, researchers, and the public together to explore history, scholarship, and new ideas through our distinctive collections.

Finals Events

At the end of each semester, NYU Libraries offers workshops, events, and resources to support both academic success and wellbeing during finals. Students can access study playlists, mindfulness resources, wellness activities, and the popular Finals Pizza + Study Session.

Public Events

NYU Libraries hosts a variety of events throughout the year, including exhibition receptions showcasing unique materials from our archives, lectures and seminars covering topics related to the collections, and talks featuring guest speakers and experts in various fields. Exhibitions

NYU Libraries supports a range of permanent and limited-run exhibitions, both on-site and online, drawing from our unique collections to spark curiosity and cultivate community.
