NYU Shanghai Library is at the heart of the University’s commitment of outstanding teaching, research and public services. We invigorate teaching, inquiry and scholarly activities through providing access to physical and electronic resources; creating inviting and inclusive learning spaces; embracing and supporting the use of technology in instruction and research; and fostering information, digital, data and AI literacy through teaching and programming.

Activities

Access & User Services

We provide access to a growing collection of physical books, periodicals and media materials and share NYU Global Network’s generous electronic resources collection. Additional materials will be made available by request through collaborative borrowing networks in China and around the world. The library is also home to a variety of open, enclosed, individual and collaborative studies spaces and technology enriched teaching, learning and research spaces.

Reference and Research Services

Through one-on-one consultation, workshops and instructional sessions, we connect users to information and data and promote information and data literacy. Librarians assist users to identify relevant sources, develop effective search strategies, and evaluate the quality and credibility of information. We also explore with faculty in new modes of research and data lifecycle in the digital age.

Research and Instructional Technology Services (RITS)

RITS provide consultations, reference and workshops on digital teaching, partner with faculty to explore immersive technologies and innovative pedagogies, and create, manage and support a growing collection of spaces and tools to enrich teaching, learning and research. The Digital Studio team assists faculty in the creation of short and engaging instructional video content and produces NYU Shanghai Mini-course TM , an open education platform. NYU Brightspace, XR, generative AI, digital scholarship tools and platforms are also some of the areas our multi-talented staff support.
