NYU Libraries offers students and faculty from other institutions access based on a number of reciprocal programs.

Students and faculty from some of the institutions listed below must pre-register for access. We cannot accommodate walk-in visitors.

American Language Institute

NYU Libraries offers access and limited borrowing privileges to American Language Institute (ALI) users.

  • ALI members can access the NYU Libraries without pre-registering.

Columbia University and Affiliates Students and Faculty

New York University and Columbia University have a cooperative agreement to share library resources through reciprocal on-site access.

Students, faculty and staff of Columbia University and of the Columbia affiliates (Barnard College, Teachers College, and Union Theological Seminary) are eligible. Guests, researchers, visiting scholars, friends of the library, community members, and alumni who may have special access arrangements at Columbia will not automatically be granted access.

Borrowing privileges are not included, but are available for full-time faculty and doctoral students through MaRLI: Manhattan Research Library Initiative.

  • To apply for access, fill out the pre-registration form at least 1-2 business days in advance of your visit.

Hebrew Union

To borrow items, Hebrew Union users should email lib-access-help@nyu.edu to create a borrowing account in advance of their visit. Students and faculty have on-site access to Bobst Library.

  • No pre-registration is required. You may access the Libraries with your Hebrew Union ID card.

Long Island University Palmer Program

Current Palmer program students and faculty have access and borrowing privileges on a semester basis.

New School, Cooper Union, and New York School of Interior Design

As part of the NYU Libraries Consortium current students and faculty have borrowing and access privileges at many NYU Libraries.

  • No pre-registration is required. You may access the Libraries with your school ID card.

OCLC Shares Members Students and Faculty

Faculty, students, and professional staff at SHARES member institutions outside the New York metropolitan region are allowed access on a semester basis with valid school ID.

  • To apply for access, fill out the pre-registration form at least 1-2 business days in advance of your visit.
