The Institute of Fine Arts Library consists of two non-circulating research collections, the Stephen Chan Library of Fine Arts and the Conservation Center Library. Its holdings reflect the research and curricular needs of the Institute of Fine Arts, with materials focusing on subjects in art history, archaeology, and conservation.

  • The Stephen Chan Library of Fine Arts is accessible to the NYU community for art research. Please visit during library hours and bring a valid NYU ID for entry.
  • Before accessing the library, please stop by the library office on the second floor for a brief introduction. No appointment is required.
  • Outside users may request access to use library materials by email or phone.

  • Unrestricted access to the Stephen Chan House is extended only to Conservation Center students and faculty, and to other students currently enrolled in Conservation Center courses.
