Search NYU Virtual Business Library's Web Pages
Note
This search engine will not search for diacritical marks. For individual words spelled with accents, use the asterisk (*) to replace the accented letters. For example, to search for the word "Académie" type acad*mie. However, this will not work if you are doing a phrase search, so instead of typing the phrase "acad*mie fran*aise" you must type the boolean search acad*mie and fran*aise.
Search Help
The query you type can be a single word or a group of words. If you type a group of words, documents containing any of these words will be retrieved. If you want to search for a phrase, it needs to be enclosed in quotation marks. You simply type your query term into the text box and then click on the search button.
You can include and exclude search terms by using the operators + and −. See below for examples.
Search Examples
If you type: “German History”
Only those documents which contain the phrase “German History” will be found. This means that the word “history" must appear right after the word “german” in order for it to match the search.
If you type: +german +history
This search will find only the documents which contain both the words “german" and “history.”
If you type: +german -history
This will find all of the documents which have the word “german” but do not contain the word “history.”
If you type: +german -history +literature
This will give you all of the pages that contain the word “german” and the word “literature” (the words aren’t necessary next to each other) but only if the word “history” does not also appear on the same page.
