Five Ways NYU Libraries Can Help Teaching Faculty Improve the Quality of Student Research Papers

  1. Request a course-specific library instruction session tailored to the assignment and research needs of your class from the Library Subject Specialist in your discipline, or use the request form and we will find the right librarian for you.

  2. Encourage your students to take advantage of pre-scheduled library instruction classes. Classes include:

    Physical and Virtual tour of the Library - Library tour & introduction to the NYU Libraries Web resources.

    Finding Books and Articles - Discover the advantages of using NYU Libraries' resources over Google and other Web search engines.

  3. Refer students to the Term Paper Research Clinics held every fall and spring. Librarians work one-on-one with students to help them develop a research strategy for their topic. 

  4. Refer freshmen and sophomores who need individualized help in using basic research tools (online catalog; databases for finding articles) to the "New to NYU Libraries" guide or to the Undergraduate Librarian for individualized help.

  5. Refer honors students and upperclassmen doing in-depth research to the Library research guide in their subject area, and to the Library Subject Specialist in their field for individualized help.
