Wireless Printing from Personal Laptops
It is possible to submit print jobs wirelessly at Bobst Library from your own laptop.
Once you are connected to NYU’s wireless network, you can install software that allows you
to send jobs to the library’s black & white and color printing systems.
Scroll down for instructions for Macintosh or Windows laptops.
- Wireless printing is not possible from Linux-based laptops or netbooks.
- Printing at Bobst uses a separate system that ITS.
- You may NOT install both Bobst and ITS printing on your laptop. Installing one when the other is already is installed will stop either from working.
- If you cannot install the software, visit the Bobst Library Computer Center at Lower Level 1 of the library during open hours.
Macintosh Laptops
- Be sure your computer is connected to the wireless network.
- Close any applications that are open, other than your web browser (you will have to logout during the installation process).
- Download the desired wireless printing installer (below). Double-click the file if the installer does not start automatically.
- Follow the prompts on the screen. When the installer is finished, click the Logout button.
- Login again, and open the document you want to print.
- When printing, select Library_Printing_Services or Color Printing as the printer.
NOTE: Printing double-sided saves you money and saves the environment. Think green!
The remaining instructions explain how to print at the library. - A dialog should appear after you click Print. Enter a job name and password (it does not have to be your netID and password).
- You will need Campus Cash or a copy card to pay for your printout. The library does not support ITS “free” printing.
- Go to any print station in the library. They are located on Lower Levels 2 & 1, and the 1st, 3rd, 6th, and 9th floors.
- Swipe your card at the station. A list of jobs will appear along with your balance at the bottom of the screen.
- Click on your job. Use the letter tabs to filter the job list if necessary.
- The job cost will be displayed. If you have enough money on your card, click the Print button.
- Enter the password you used when you submitted your job, then click OK.
- You card will be debited and your job will print at that printer.

Windows Laptops
- Be sure your computer is connected to the wireless network.
- Close any applications you have open, other than your web browser.
- Download the appropriate wireless printing installer (below). Double-click the compressed folder you downloaded; there should be two files.
- For 32-bit Windows computers, the file will end in W2k.zip.
- For 64-bit Windows computers, the file will end in x64.zip.
- Double-click the .exe file. The installation will proceed automatically.
- When the installation finishes, double-click the uniprintbw.reg or uniprintcolor.reg file. Click Yes to add the library printing system’s host name to your laptop’s operating system. NOTE: For 32-bit systems, one registry key is installed. For 64-bit systems, two registry keys are installed.
- When printing, select Library Printing Services as the printer.

Follow steps 7 through 14 above to print at the library.
