When requested by instructors, the Libraries keeps some course-related items on reserve. This means these items can only be checked out for short periods of time (2 hours to 3 days, depending on material type).
Course Reserves materials include:
Audio and video items, and music books and scores available at the Avery Fisher Center (AFC).
Finding Materials on Reserve
1. Search the catalog
Select the Course Reserves tab in BobCat. You can and search item by Instructor, Course Number, or Material (i.e., author, title, etc.):
2. Check for availability
Click on the item listed for your course to view details, and then “Check Availability”.
3. Get the location
The reserved item’s location is listed in the GetIt! record as either:
- NYU Bobst Reserve Collection
- NYU Bobst Avery Fisher Center Reserve
- NYU Bern Dibner Library Course Reserve
- NYU Jack Brause Reserves
To borrow course reserve, bring the item’s information to the service desk
If the item location says:
NYU Bobst Reserve Collection
Give the call number to a staff member at Circulation & Reserves (Bobst Library, Floor 1). Print items.
NYU Bobst Avery Fisher Center Reserve
Give the call number to a staff member at the AFC (Bobst Library, Floor 7). Audio, video and music items.
NYU Bern Dibner Library Course Reserve
Give the author’s name to a staff member at the Service Desk (Dibner Library, Floor 3). Print items.
NYU Jack Brause Reserves
Give the call number to a staff member at Reference Desk (Brause Library, Floor 5). Print items.
