Locating the Full Text of an Article
The first step in locating journal articles is selecting and searching a database (an electronic index, searchable by topic). If you have not already done so, review the Locating Article Citations in Databases section of this module. When you have completed a database search and are satisfied with the results you can begin to locate the full text of each of the articles.
You should expect that you will be able to locate articles in one of four ways:
- Some databases have links to the full text of articles right from the database screen. Look for the red and gray NYU icon next to an article citation, which links you to options for full text at NYU:

- You can search the library's catalog to determine which journals your library subscribes to and where they are located.
- You can search the library's electronic journals page to determine which titles are available electronically.
- For articles in journal titles not available at your library, you may order a copy of an article from another library via interlibrary loan.
