PHOTOCOPYING Improper photocopying or roughly administered photocopying mangles the structural components of a book and disables the functioning of those elements. Undue stress to the spine as it is pressed against the glass of the photocopier can break the spine. This destroys its structural capacity to hold the book firmly together and adequately support the pages as the whole unit stands on the shelf. Photocopying should always be administered gently and carefully.
