| BINDING HAZARDS | These four volumes of Oeuvres de Riviere Du Fresny illustrate the hazards of over-trimmed margins and oversewing by a commercial binder. The greatly reduced inner margin of the commercially bound volumes on the left make it difficult to read the text. In fact, when compared to the volume recased in the library�s conservation lab, right, you can see that the excessive trimming of all margins of the commercially bound volume have drastically altered the original size and character of this 18th century publication. |
