THREE GENERATIONS OF MICROFILM Three generations of microfilm are produced to satisfy all standards and fulfill all requirements for preservation microfilming: a master negative, a duplicate negative, and a positive service copy. Master negatives are stored under archival conditions at the National Underground Storage facility in Boyers, Pennsylvania; duplicate negatives are stored off-site at Preservation Resources, our principal microfilmer; and positive service copies are available for use in the Microform Reading Room.
