OVERSEWING VS. DOUBLE FAN ADHESIVE BINDING These two examples demonstrate the difference in opening characteristics between a book that has been oversewn (bottom) and a book that has been double fan adhesive bound (top). The oversewn book allows far less access into the gutter of the book, which will create difficulties when reading and photocopying the book and will most likely result in damage.
