GOLDSMITH CONSERVATION LAB
AT BOBST
The Goldsmith Conservation Lab at Bobst handles older, more fragile materials that cannot withstand the rigors of commercial binding or which need specialized treatment. All pre-1945 general collection material is treated "in-house" as well as any special collections item in need of care. Routine treatments include recasing and rebacking heavily used items; custom-made protective enclosures, such as four flap folders and drop spine boxes; paper mending using a variety of Japanese papers; and other repairs such as tip-ins for photocopied replacement pages. Additional treatments include deacidification, encapsulation, and mold removal.
