| GOLDSMITH CONSERVATION LAB AT BOBST |
The Goldsmith Conservation Lab at Bobst handles older, more fragile materials that cannot withstand the rigors of commercial binding or which need specialized treatment. All pre-1945 general collection material is treated "in-house" as well as any special collections item in need of care. Routine treatments include recasing and rebacking heavily used items; custom-made protective enclosures, such as four flap folders and drop spine boxes; paper mending using a variety of Japanese papers; and other repairs such as tip-ins for photocopied replacement pages. Additional treatments include deacidification, encapsulation, and mold removal. |
