Books & More: Help using this tab

FAQ about this tab:

Q: When should I use the Books and More tab?

A: When you are searching for books, journals, and other print materials, as well as videos, sound recordings, e-books, e-journals, and databases that are held by NYU Libraries and the libraries of the New School, Cooper Union, New-York Historical Society, Brooklyn Historical Society, and New York School of Interior Design.

Q: When should I not use this tab?

A: When you are looking for a specific journal or e-journal article and you already have—in addition to the journal or e-journal title—some specific information about the article, possibly including its title, author, date, volume number, and so on. Books and More only finds journals and e-journals by title. If you have specific information about the article, use the E-Journals tab to search for it. If you want to find articles on a particular subject, use the Articles tab.

Q: How do I limit my search to a particular format, such as video?

A: Use the dropdown menu labeled “Limit To” that is under the search box. Alternatively, once your search results are displayed you can limit the format by choosing a resource type under Refine My Results on the left side of the screen.

Q: How do I find an item that Books and More says is “Available@GetIt”?

A: In the results list, click the title or the link that says “Available@GetIt.” If the item is electronic, a link to it will be displayed in the box labeled “Electronic Version via.” If it is a print item, it will be listed under “Copies in Library.” A link to maps and call number locations is found just below “Copies in Library.”

Q: How do I push my results to RefWorks?

A: The last line of each item displayed on your results list has a gray “Send/Share” button. Click the arrow to see a list of options, including E-mail, Print, and Push to Connotea, RefWorks, EndNote, and del.icio.us.
