Forum for Classics, Libraries, and Scholarly Communication
The Forum's Projects
The Forum's current projects focus on outreach and an online inventory
to the archives of noteworthy American classicists and classical
archaeologists.
Outreach
- The Forum has prepared a bibliography of books about classics that
it recommends for public libraries. Included are books on ancient
history, literature, and the other major subfields of classical
studies. The bibliography is an attempt to reach out to public
librarians, especially to those with responsibilities for materials
selection. To view the bibliography, click here.
- The Forum has investigated humanities programming in public
libraries, in order to determine what types of programs might serve
as models for classics outreach in that setting. To read a summary
of the findings, click here.
Archives of Classical Scholars
- A work in progress, this database aims to inventory the personal
and professional papers of noteworthy American classicists and
classical archaeologists. If you know of relevant archival material
that should be included, please contact the project's coordinator,
David Sullivan (dsulliva@library.berkeley.edu).
Information about undocumented or "hidden" collections of papers
would be especially welcome.
