BobCat Planned Service Outage

BobCat Unavailable

If you've reached this page, it means BobCat is currently unavailable-we apologize for this inconvenience and have provided some options below while we work on bringing BobCat back!

Options for Locating Library Materials while BobCat is unavailable:

Want to know if NYU owns a specific book? Use WorldCat

Go to and do your search

Click on a result and enter the NYU zip code, 10012, into the library location box.

If NYU owns the item our records will display first. This will not provide the call number or status information (e.g., whether book is on shelf), it only indicates ownership

Need a call number? Check the Columbia catalog (or another research library) because our call numbers will be similar.

Search take the Columbia call number and check it on the Bobst Library call number chart, then go to the specific floor in Bobst Library to see whether the book is on the shelf.

Want the item electronically? You can still check BobCat to see if the item you're looking for is available electronically.

Go to BobCat and do your search Click on the result and select the Availability Getit link  in BobCat link instead of the title link. If the item is available electronically, the screen will indicate the availability.

Want to check our or renew items?

Visit the circulation desk to renew your items. Circulation information will be updated in your library account once the system is back up.

Need a book your instructor has placed on reserve?

Most non-electronic reserve materials are held at the Course Reserves Desk, on Lower Level 2 of Bobst Library. Ask whether the item you want is available at the Course Reserves desk. The other location is the Avery Fisher Center for Music and Media on the second floor.
