The arrival of P2P file-sharing has made a generation aware of the possibility of distributing digital audio, but little work has been done in the scholarly community to date on providing audio works.

  • Preservation of Digitally Recorded Sound
By Sam Brylawki of the Library of Congress' Recorded Sound Section, this article provides a good overview of many of the issues surrounding digital sound recordings.
  • Variations 2
Extensive set of articles, working papers, and discussion of research topics surrounding Variations 2, one of the most sophisticated digital libraries of musical recordings developed.
  • Diffuse -- Audio Interchange Standards
A fairly comprehensive list of data formats for digital audio, with pointers to the electronic versions of the standards documents for the formats where available.
  • Digital Domain
Intended mainly for audio engineers, this site has a variety of technical information on the production of digital audio that may be useful for those planning on the production of very high quality digital audio products, and includes a helpful glossary of digital audio terminology.
