The Scholarly Communications & Information Policy (SCIP) department at the NYU Libraries can help the NYU community navigate the complexities of sharing scholarly work. We provide a wide range of services to support scholars and researchers across the global campuses and across disciplines.

Consultations

We consult with individuals and groups about:

  • Understanding and negotiating publishing agreements
  • Figuring out how to publish open access
  • Adopting and creating open educational resources
  • Navigating fair use for teaching and research
  • Engaging with copyright for your own work or the work of others

Email us at open.access@nyu.edu to schedule a consultation or ask us your questions.

Education and Outreach

Our department creates research guides and educational materials for the NYU community and beyond, such as the Open Educational Resources Faculty Toolkit. We partner with instructors to teach students about copyright, publishing, and research ethics. We also educate faculty, staff, and student groups about open educational resources, open access, and other current issues in scholarly communications.
