    The definitive source of business intelligence on political and economic trends, covering over 180 countries. Independent analysis and medium term forecasts available every three months .
  • ISI Emerging Markets
    Financial information, news and business intelligence for 25 emerging countries. Coverage includes company profiles, financial statements and earnings estimates, analyst reports for companies and industries, current and historical market information, economic statistics and forecasts, and current news .
  • Country Commercial Guides
    U.S. State Department (Bureau of Economic Analysis). (Annual).
    These reports provide economic trends and outlooks, political environment, investment climate and more.
  • World Bank Country Profiles
    With an emphasis on developing countries, this site provides brief country profiles, data, information on major projects underway, and links to full text reports on issues and topics affecting the country in question. Provides a portrait of the economic and social development of each country.
  • IMF Country Information
    Includes full text IMF Staff reports, statistical information, reports on issues impacting each country and more.

    Publications portal of the OECD. Access to monographs and full text of all periodicals, as well as a statistical database.

    Each OECD country covered with data and statistics in a statistical annex in the back, as well as trends and prospects, fiscal and social policies.
  • PlanEcon Report. Washington, D.C.: PlanEcon Inc. (twice monthly). Bobst Ref6 Desk HC336.25.P424, backfile Bstack, 1987-. In depth reports on the developments in the economies of the former USSR and Eastern Europe. Each report focuses on a specific country with highlights of the economic and political situations, including monetary policies, debt and equity markets, foreign trade, balance of payments, exchange rates and statistical tables.
  • Country Risk Service.
    London: Economist Intelligence Unit. Monthly. Measures the political, economic policy, economic structure and liquidity risk of activities in 100 emerging markets over a two-year forecasting horizon. Each report provides crucial insight into the risk of investing in the currency, sovereign debt or banking sector of an emerging market. Covers 100 emerging markets .
  • Political Risk Yearbook. East Syracuse, N.Y.: Political Risk Services. (annual). Bobst Ref6 Desk, current, backfile Bstack HD2755.5.P633, 1987-. Assesses the economic and political situations for each country.
  • Foreign Bank Annual Reports. London: Chadwyck-Healy. (annual). Bobst Ref6 fiche, and some print in Ref6I and Bstack, holdings vary. Annual reports published by each country's central bank. A good websites is: Joint World Bank/IMF Library Central Bank Holdings.

  • Business Monitor Online Provides extensive industry, economic, political, risk, and financial market analysis and data for about 175 countries. Especially useful for emerging economies.
  • China Data Online Comprehensive database Web site focusing on economic statistics of China, arranged by regions and categories. Includes monthly and yearly reports on China's macroeconomic development, statistical databases about China's population and economy at the county and city level, and financial indicators of more than 568 industrial branches. Also includes statistical yearbooks, census data, industrial and marketing surveys, and an atlas of China.
  • Global Insight Provides economic and financial coverage of countries, regions, and industries available from various respected sources. Covers over 200 countries and spans approximately 170 industries.
  • EIU Country Data London: Economist Intelligence Unit. (monthly, quarterly, annually). 278 times series on 117 countries from 1980-present. Charting and analytical functions available.
  • EIU City DataContains pricing information on more than 160 products and services in 123 cities worldwide. You can check everything from the cost of a loaf of bread in Adelaide to the average electricity bill of a local family in Zurich.
  • EIU Global Market Indicators and Forecasts demographics, consumption, average wages, income levels, market size, infrastructure and the business environment data on 60 key countries worldwide. Contains over 500 series stretching back to 1990 and forward five years.
  • EIU World Investment Service The service covers the world's 60 largest economies and provides detailed data and analysis on the political and economic background, the business environment, business costs, foreign investment regulations, trends in foreign investment. Plus a detailed database containing flows of investment and mergers & acquisitions by country and by industry.
  • Eurostat Statistics Includes economic, financial, population and social conditions, industry, trade and regional statistics for the European community.
  • Statistical Universe Indexes the statistical publications of international government agencies such as the IMF, OECD, World Bank, and UN, as well as the U.S. Government. Contains direct links so much data, while ohters are available on microfiche in the International and U.S. Documents Centers on Ref6.
  • International Financial Statistics Online (International Monetary Fund) International Financial Statistics is a standard source of international statistics on all aspects of international and domestic finance. It reports, for most countries of the world, current data needed in the analysis of problems of international payments and of inflation and deflation, i.e., data on exchange rates, international liquidity, international banking, money and banking, interest rates, prices, production, international transactions, government accounts, and national accounts. The IFS database contains time series data from 1948.
  • Balance of Payments (International Monetary Fund) A comprehensive source of balance of payments statistics for the countries of the world.
  • Direction of Trade (International Monetary Fund) Figures on the value of merchandise exports and imports for more than 150 countries.
  • PRS CountryData Detailed political risk rankings, economic indicators and forecasts for over 160 countries

Statistical tables in the back provide selected world development indicators such as income distribution, population and labour force, demand, production, and more.

  • World Tables. Published for the World bank by the Johns Hopkins University Press. (annual). Bobst Ref6 Desk current and Int'l Docs HC59.W669, 1980, 1984, 1987, 1989, 1995-, and IIS fiche 4530-28, 1984-. Statistical times series for 139 countries with data such as population, GNP, GDP, manufacturing activity, government debt or surplus and more.
  • World Data Analyst Online Users can analyze countries and regions at a glance. It offers detailed statistical comparisons of countries around the world, using both the most recent statistics and historical figures. Users can create tables, charts, and export the information to a spreadsheet.
  • United Nations Common Database More than 450 statistical time series for countries from around the world covering a wide range of economic and socio-demographic topics.
  • Statistical Yearbook. New York: United Nations. (annual). Bobst Ref6 Desk current and Int'l. Docs., Aisle 19 Basic reference for internationally comparable statistics on UN countries. Tables often cover a 10 year period.
  • World Economic and Social Survey. New York: United Nations. (annual). Bobst Ref6 Desk current and Int'l. Docs, aisle 16, 1955-. An analysis of world economic policies, trends and issues. Statistical tables include macroeconomic indicators, international trade and finance, and financial markets for developed market economies and economies in transition.
  • Government Finance Statistics Yearbook. Washington, D.C.: International Monetary Fund. (Annual). Bobst Ref6 Desk current and Int'l. Docs. HJ101.G68, 1977-, and IIS fiche 3840-S4, 1983-. Detailed statistical tables on central government revenue, expenditure, lending, financing and debt, and more.
  • World Financial Markets. New York: Morgan Guaranty Trust. (monthly). Bobst Ref6I HG1.W67, current, backfile Bstack 1976-. Also SRI fiche B6200-2, 1979-. The statistical index in each issue contains tables on exchange rates, government bond indices and yields, and Eurocurrency deposit rates.
  • Statistical Compendiums of Foreign Governments. London: Chadwyck-Healy. (annual). Bobst Ref6 fiche, and some print in REF6I. Most countries publish annual statistical volumes providing the more important statistics for that country. Bobst maintains an extensive microfiche collection of these statistical compendiums as well as some print volumes. Please check BobCat for holdings.
  • Foreign Bank Statistical Publications. (usually quarterly or monthly). Many banks publish bulletins that are predominantly or partially statistical in nature. Bobst Library collects many of these. A few examples include publications from the Deutsche Bundesbank, Bank of England, Bank of Japan, Bank of Canada, Banco Central del Ecuador, National Bank of Egypt, and many more. Please check BobCat for holdings. Also, many country's central banks provide many of their publications free of charge on the web.   • World Competitiveness Report. IMD International. (annual). Bobst Ref6 Desk current, backfile Bstack, HF1414.W67, 1993-. Statistical tables with over 300 criteria, with country rankings for the criteria.
  • Global Market Information Database London: Euromonitor.
    An extensive database of international market data, including country data, lifestyle information, forecasts and much more.
  • Handbook of International Economic Statistics. Central Intelligence Agency. (annual). Bobst Ref6I HA155.U54a current, backfile Bstack, 1992-. Basic statistics for the former Soviet Republics, CIS, Eastern Europe, and OECD countries.
  • International Database (IDB). U.S. Census Bureau.
    This database provides demographic and socio-economic statistics for 227 countries and areas of the world. The IDB combines data from country sources (especially censuses and surveys) with IPC's estimates and projections to provide information dating as far back as 1950, and as far ahead as 2050.

    An assessment of economic trends, prospects and policies in OECD countries. Each issue contains an overall analysis of the latest economic trends and short-term projections, and occasional special studies of timely issues. Historical tables provide percentage rates of change to illustrate the fluctuations of main economic variables over a 20-30 year period.
  • World Economic Outlook Reports. International Monetary Fund. (Semiannual).
    Summarizes the current world economic situation and the short-term prospects. Includes a statistical annex.
