Below is a table of terms and their meanings.

Status Term Meaning
Ask at Avery Fisher Center This material is not immediately available, but staff may be able to retrieve it for you. Please ask at the Avery Fisher Center on Floor 7 of Bobst
Ask at Fales This material is not immediately available, but staff may be able to retrieve it for you. Please ask at the Fales Library and Special Collections on Floor 3 of Bobst
Ask at NYU Archives This material is not immediately available, but staff may be able to retrieve it for you. Please ask at the NYU Archives on Floor 10 of Bobst
Ask at Reference This material is available electronically. Please follow the link in BobCat to online access or ask for assistance at the Floor 1 reference desk
Ask at Tamiment This material is not immediately available, but staff may be able to retrieve it for you. Please ask at the Tamiment Library on Floor 10 of Bobst
At Bindery This item has been sent out for binding.
Billed as Lost This item is currently unavailable. Eligible patrons may request a copy through Interlibrary Loan
In Processing This material is not immediately available but some In Processing items are requestable. If the request button appears, you may place a request for the item to be rush processed. You will be notified when it is available for your use. If the request button does not appear, eligible patrons may place an interlibrary loan request via Interlibrary Loan
New Books Display This material is currently shelved as part of a new books display. Please inquire at the owning library’s circulation desk as to the location of the display. New books may be checked out
Offsite Available This material is housed in our offsite shelving facility. Please click the request button to retrieve the material
On Exhibit This material is currently being used in an exhibit. Eligible patrons may request a copy through Interlibrary Loan
On Hold This item was requested by a library user and is currently being held at the circulation desk of the owning library
On Order This item was recently ordered. You may place a request for the item to be rush-processed. You will be notified when it is available for your use.
Requested This material has been requested by a library user, and you may also place a request. The Hold Request confirmation screen will indicate what number you are in the queue for this material. The material will be available to those in the queue for 14 days before it must be returned. You will be notified when the material is available for pick-up at the appropriate circulation desk.
Request ILL This item is currently unavailable. Eligible patrons may request a copy through Interlibrary Loan
Re-shelving This item was recently returned to the library and is on its way back to the stacks. You may wish to check in the sorting area of the floor on which it is shelved
Unavailable This item is currently not available. Eligible patrons may request a copy through Interlibrary Loan
