  • Earth Week Films at Bobst

    In honor of Earth Week, the Avery Fisher Center in Bobst is screening a number of films, as follows. Come join us!

    Tuesday, April 21st - 5pm "After Winter, Spring" 74 minutes
    At Bobst/Avery Fisher Center/West Room
    -An intimate portrait of an ancestral way of life
    under threat in a world increasingly dominated
    by large-scale industrial agriculture.

    Wednesday, April 22nd - 5pm "Groundswell Rising" 70 minutes
    At Bobst/Avery Fisher Center/West Room
    -Documents the opposition from both sides of
    the political spectrum to the ubiquitous practice
    of fracking for natural gas, and the health
    and environmental reasons behind it.


    Thursday, April 23, 2015 - 7pm - Double Feature
    "Racing To Zero" 55 minutes
    At Bobst/Avery Fisher Center/West Room
    -Follows the collective efforts of San Francisco
    to reach "zero waste" -- from increased
    recycling and composting to changing patterns
    of production and consumption.
    "Green Fire" 73 minutes (directly following "Racing To Zero")
    At Bobst/Avery Fisher Center/West Room
    Explores the life and legacy of famed
    conservationist Aldo Leopold (A Sand County
    Almanac ) and his land ethic philosophy.


    Friday, April 24th, 2015 - 3pm "Oil and Water" 78 minutes
    At Bobst/Avery Fisher Center/West Room
    -Two boys come of age looking for solutions
    to the global problem of reckless oil drilling
    following the disastrous Texaco oil spill in
    Ecuador.
